What Meta needs before any ad can run
Never run Meta ads before? A few things have to exist first. None of them is hard, and Render’s checklist walks you through all 10 steps in the order Meta makes you do them, about 45 minutes in all:
- A Facebook account for you, with two-factor sign-in turned on
- A Facebook Page for your business. Every ad runs from a Page, and its name and picture show on your ads
- A business portfolio, Meta’s home for your business (it used to be called Business Manager), with an ad account inside it
- A payment method on the ad account, so Meta can bill your ad spend
- A Meta pixel on your website: a small piece of Meta’s tracking code that tells Meta when someone buys or signs up
- Connecting Instagram and verifying your website’s domain are optional, but worth doing
